November 2014
Dear Parents of Moraga K-5 Students,
This year, we are in the process of revising the elementary report card for the Moraga School District. Our goal is to have a new report card that is fully aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) by fall, 2015. During this transitional year (2014-15), we will be using our current report card. However, each grade level’s report card will likely show minor changes throughout the year due to the instructional shifts of the CCSS.
During this transitional year, you may notice the following:
- The formatting may appear different. This is due to a new report card software program that some teachers are piloting. Please note, that although the formatting may appear different, the content of the report card is the same at each grade level in the district.
- The second trimester report may not include markings from the first trimester. That is because we are refining the report card for each trimester, so some changes will occur mid-year.
- Some grade areas may be shaded-in or may be marked “n/a”. This is because certain standards may not be assessed during a particular trimester. Note: This is similar to prior years.
Again, this is a transition year for our district as we begin full implementation of the Common Core State Standards. Therefore, our report card is also in transition. During this time, the main purpose of our report cards remains the same. The purpose is to inform you of your child’s progress. As we refine and update our report cards this year we will seek parent input and feedback during the process.
If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me or your child’s teacher. Thank you for your interest in and understanding of this transition as we work to develop a new, improved report card.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Parker
Director of Curriculum & Instruction
