STAR of the Week!

In kindergarten, every child gets a week to shine.  During your child's star week, you will be asked to help your child create a Star Poster that will help classmates and teachers learn more about your child.  Many families keep this Star Poster for a very long time.

Parents' Guide to Student Success

This guide provides an overview of what your child will learn by the end of Kindergarten in mathematics and English language arts/literacy.

Welcome to Kindergarten at Rheem

Kindergarten2.jpg

Your energetic Kindergarten Team is very happy to welcome you to Rheem School.  There are so many fun activities in store for you.  We'll start the year Color Weeks, and move onto Johnny Appleseed's birthday.  There is our annual fall visit to the Pumpkin Farm, followed by our annual Butterfly Parade starriing Kindergarteners!  Somewhere in the middle of it all, we'll celebrate 100 days of school.  And, weather permitting, we'll make our annual pilgrimage  to Crab Cove in Alameda.

Volunteering

For those parents and caregivers who are able to help in class, please know that your time and energy is very much appreciated.  To help you navigate through these first few weeks, we've put together a Volunteer Fact Sheet.

Buddy System

One of the great experiences we offer at Rheem is a buddy system.  Kindergarteners are paired with 5th graders whom they meet with several times during the year to work and play together.  This partnership helps to foster cooperation and empathy between grades.

Going forward, first graders are paired with fourth graders, and second graders are paired with third graders.  Soon enough your child will be the "big" buddy!
